Grade 7

The science of today is the technology of tomorrow. 

Four units within the Grade 7 Science Curriculum: 


Unit 1: Ecosystems (Sept.-Nov.) - very hands  on; learn how to write labs with ecological sampling lab, etc. 

Unit 2: Structures (Jan.-Feb.) - See link below

- currently building bridges to be tested at the Bridge Buster coming to BCI Wednesday, March 6th. Winners will build a second bridge using 100 Popsicle sticks and school glue (see information below).

Thursday, April 4, 2019 with a snow date of Tuesday April 9, 2019
Registration 9:30-10:00AM, Competition 10:00 AM, Awards follow after competition (usually about 11:30AM)

Complete unit with mini challenges (like a practical test) in building a high-rise condo on a tropical island. 

Unit 3: Pure Substances and Mixtures (March-April)

Unit Overview and Lesson #1: Introduce matter and the particle theory  

Lesson #2-4: Classifying Substances

Pure Substances and Mixtures - Review Question Answers 

Unit 4: Heat (April-May) 

Unit 5: Self-discovery (June) if time allows

NOTE: Science Fair is available for those wanting to participate. I will gladly guide you in your discovery although this is not a requirement within our current science studies.
